Kim.ai: '1 iiouxr. Ta.soi.esiIaoi-, Feb. 27. 1SDL ULAKUIKI (AMATA A Rendered ly Home Tuleni, a Ilrilliant Siieeeon. On last Inday night thero occured at the oora house tho best entertainment that has been held in this city for many days, in the 6hac of tho blackbird can tata, under tho auspices of tho ladies aid Mcioty of tho .M. E. church. It was from beginning to end loudly applauded by the large audience present. Tho can tata proper was played to erfection by tho httlo folks as wiIl as tho largo ones. Tho pie was one of tho largest wo hae over feen and when tho tventy-lie blackbirds camo rushing out ortho toji after Low Albright had caned it with his artistic hand, it caused loud applause and tho king and jueen, (Mr. CI. W. Uarker and Miss -May llandall) were su premely happy oer tho fact that tho pie was so large and apparently lit for onl king'' to oat. After the pio had been dissected the little blackbirds were lined up on tho stage and rendered the black bird MMig, "Fowand twenty blackbirds baked in n pie." After that the httlo fairies under the leadership of Kena Smith was tho liuest part of tho program and the httlo folks erfonned tho drill in a manner that wsis faultless. 1 Jena's ability as a captain is certainly beyond reproach as hho handled the company of twenty foilr Httlo tads in a manner that would have done credit to a genernl in tho regular army. It was splendid. Then camo tho "quack song" which drew forth continual applause Then camo Tom E. Penman with a violin nolo that was beautiful. Tom is an expert violinist and probably Jias no equal in the btate. Tho Misses Montio 1 ulleys and Lottio Sherman entertained tho audienco in a duet, also Miss Jessie Shorman and Stow art Albright did them selves credit in a beautiful bong. The quartet by Mrs. liriggs of .Superior, Stewart Albright, Miss Koso Emigh and Mr. Li. 1. Albright was highly apprecia ted and loudly encored bj tho audienco. Anson Higby was a complete success and drow forth tho npplnuso of tho en tiro audience. The Mibs Pearl Skeen and Koto Emigh sang a beautiful duet and wero loudly applauded. Tho .MisMKi Mary Miner and Montie Tulleys prohided at tho piano, and Bovenil others wing but wo were unable to make notice of all separately, but suilico it to say that it was josittely the finest entertainment w;e have had in Rtd Cloud for many davs. Every body is talking abut recipro city. Canada is having a big fight over it. C Wiener like wiiehas a word to say on the subject. Flc claims to have received many favors fiom the pcop'e of thi vicinity and now will reciprocate by selling them good goods at a low prices to moot the hard times. To pr-ivc this to the public, he asks them to come and see for themselves. Tlic W. It. CJ. Convention. The authorities of the 1$. & M. rail road in their usnal generous manner, Ito us reduced rates on our trip to i'lattsmouth to attend the convention, and of all the branches of that road, we think our Valley road excels, with ite elegantly furnished cars, courteous con ductors, aud attentive porters, who with out a fee are willing to wait upon the ladiee, even to tho extent of running out to pet them a lunch at the last minute bofore the train starts. Our delegation increased at every station, Mrs. Man chester Vosl National S. V. P. joining us at Lincoln, and Mrs. McIIenry na tional president, accompanied by one of !uer nius came in me car at uniana. This was unexpected, but none the less pleasenu It wnsdark before w reached our destination, and it was very gratify ing on alighting from the car with the crowd, to hear the voice of a friend say ing, lis 3Ire. Knight here? You must come right up to our house." A boat 150 members were in attend ance at the convention, all enthu$iatic in the cause7 Besides the national pres ident there were present, the national aid Mrs. Stocking of Denison. Iowa, and Mrs. Bessie Young. National CJ. V. P. of Kansas City. The first day was occu pied with the reports of officers which were excellent. The chaplains report which contained descriptions of memor- i lal day cervices, was long but full of in- tre?i ana l noticed that the report from Etftl Cloud told of more interestinir m:- l erases than any of the others. The la- choa of Plattsmouth took the delegates to their homes and entertained them hospitably. The Belief Corps served dinner and supper to them in a larga room adjoining the hall where they met. PlattMnouth is a city of hills, and the residence of ay friend when? we were estertained is situated on ooe of them, three-fourths of a mild irom the conven tion halh but that was no detriment to as, for a carriage took ns down in the morning and was ready to take eg home it any time nf the night that we were .-ready to go, and some nights it was in tbe sall hour that we went. We en joyed the whole of it. and came back to our hooMW well satktied with the results of the work, aad glad that we had tie privilege of asdstinjr in placing in office the right kind of women who will make our order this year a soccess in all re spects.
