W gaaraBtee every bottle, c. L. netting, Drasgist- A Narrow Escape. Mr. Charles H. Peckenpaugh of Dundy county, Nebraska, and his wife and two children met with a seri ons accident last Tuesday evening just after dark, by the upsetting of their wagon near the Pioneer livery barn in this city. They were re moying trom their home in Dundy county to Kansas City, JIo. Arriving m the city after dark jit. 1 . was onv i Jg around in search of a livery stable and seeing a light at the west end of F. N. Bichardson's stable, attempted to reach it from the south, and there being no electric light near, by which he could see the dangerous character of the road, he very naturally turned his team in the direction of the stable supposing, as he had a right to sup pose, that the center of a street in a city was perfectly sate, when his team walked deliberately into the ditch or ravine, that beautifies and adorns that particular locality, up setting the wagon and burying the children beneath the load of goods. The screams and cries of the horrified parents soon brought assistance, and the little ones were liberated with out having sustained any injuries, al though it was feared for a time that the babe, whose name is Bcnj. Har rison, would not be rescued alive, be ing hidden under the confused mass of goods, and could not be heard nor seen, until by the aid of lights which were procured as soon as possible, a dozen willing hands succeeded in re lieving little Benny from his peril ous situation. The stove, with fire in it, added to the danger of the sit uation as well as to the consternation of the by.standers, many of whom were women, while the frantic cries of the distracted mother, in her agony of suspense was pitiable to witness. As soon as water could be procured, the fire was extinguished, but not un til Mr. Richardson had his hands considerably burned in removing it from the promiscuous mass of goods, which in a short time would have been on fire. The family was kindly cared for by the people of the imme diate neighborhood. The mother and oldest child sustained some slight in juries but the father and little Ben ny escaped unhurt. Would it not be well for our city council to make a repetition of this accident impossi ble by having that portion of the street made safe? What is a Christmas Gift. RQHSUMPTION, IS its first stages, can Ibe successfully checked "by the prompt use of Ayer Cherry Pectoral. Even- in the later periods of that disease, the cough is wonderfully relieved by this medicine. "I have used AVer's Cherry Pectoral with the best effect in my practice. This wonderful preparation once saved my life. I had a constant cough, night sweats, was greatly reduced in flesh, and given up by my physician. One bottle and a half of the Pectoral cured me." A. J. Eidson, M. D., Middleton, Tennessee. Several years ago I was severely; HI. The doctors said I was in consumption, and that they could do nothing for me, but advised me. as a last resort, to try Aver's Cherry Pectoral. After taking this medicine two or three months I was cured, and my health remains good to the present day." James Birchard, Danes, Conn. " Several years ago, cm a passage home from California, by water, I contracted so severe a cold that for some days I was confined to my state-room, and a physician on board considered my life in danger. Happening to have a bottle of Aver's Cherry Pectoral, I used it freelv, and my lungs were soon restored to a" healthy condition. Since then I have invariably recommended this prep aration." J. B. Fishes are weighed in their scales And an elephant packs his own trunk; But rats never tell their own tales, And one seldom gets chink in a chunk. Bogs seldom wear their own pants, Which fact lays them open to scorn; Xo nephew or niece fancies ants, And a cow never blows her own horn. A cat cannot parse its own claws, 'o porcupine nibs his own quill ; Though orphan bears still have their paws, A bird will not pay its own bill. Sick ducks never go to a quack, A horse cannot pleugh his own mane ; A ship is not hurt by a tack, And a window never suffers with pane.
