Our next public teachers meeting will be held in the high school Friday evening at 7 30 o'clock January 25 to which the public generally arc uiot cordially invited. A clasa drill in primary numbers will be conducted by Mis Brakefi'Id after which there will be such friendly criticism and re marks as the departments during the class drill may call forth. The teachers duly appreciate the deep interest maintained in these meetings by the good people of Red Cloud, as evinced by the vary large attendance at each meeting we have had, and they earnestly hope for a continuance of ineh interest in a :ausc that cannot fail being produc tive of pleasant and profitable results for our schools. Tbe promotion of the school's best interests is the only motivn that prompted the organisa tion of these meetings, aad pervades their existence, directing every step taken by the teachers in their efforts to conduct the meetings to a successful issue that our schools may. reap a per manent benefit from them. To secure such a very desirable result both teachers and pupils look to parents and school officers for that recognition and encouragement morally due them in their respective field of labor. Hence we hope to see our usual large attendance next Friday evening. Respectfully, John. F. Curran Sup't. The Egyptians, whose history, ae recorded on thoir monuments and In their writing, is the most ancient of any with which we an acquainted, habitually wore broad belta of one kind or another. These girdles were used by both sexes, and, we are In formed by Prof. Macalister. were wore tight, this being apparently the cause of tho remarkably slim waists which aro so characteristic a feature of the sculptures and paintings of tho ancient Egyptians.
