The fatal duel took dace in the bar room near the frout door and be tween two gamblers named Frank Fans ler and Kd, or ''Kid" Hawkins. It seems that these two men Have been nursing a desperate prudire asaint tach other for more than a year, and Fanalerha3 threatened to kill Hawkin several time?. Hawkins heard this and he went out and got another good revolver and came back. Hawkins then walked into the saloon and went behind the bar, pulled out the drawer, as though looking for his revolver, then lie turned and ipoke to Fansler, who htood in front of tin bar and toward the door, sayinc. Fansler was soon in the throe of death and the noise of battle was a' an end. The few men who were in the sa loon at once ran to the side of the dy ing man and Hawkins skipped out. The police were soon at the scene of the murder but Uicm:m who did the phooting was gone They and sheriff Iiarlass began to plan a search for Haw kins when he suddenly nude his ap pearance on the strict, walking boldly up to the officers and said: "entle men I suppose I am the man yon are looking for." He was taken into cus tody by Sheriff ISnrlass and wa care fully guarded all night. TIIK DEAD MAN. The coroner took charge of the body and a post mortem eximiuaiion was had. Two shots took effect in the left d'oulder, one in tliL right idi near tla-w:ti.-t and one went clear through the body cuttingthe liver. Fanslcr's .hoot ing wa very wide of the mark. Two shot- hit the b:ir and failed to go through, one struck the wall above Hawkins head and the other hit the ice chest at the back end of the b.ir. THE WIFE TAKES THE ItODV.
