The Red CrffbuD Chief.
A.C. HOSMER, -
Proprietor
FRIDAY. JUNF 20. 1884.
Cowles Directory.
National Republican Ticket.
For President,
Jame- G. Maine,
of JIaine.
For Vice-President,
John A. Logan,
of Illinois.
Uncle Sammy Tildcn has declined
to become the candidate for presidency
on the democratic ticket. We pre
sume that Ben Butler, Gov. Cleweland
or some other democratic statesman
will be put on the ticket. Notwfth
standing his declination, Samuel J.
Tilden has many warm admirers in the
democratic ranks. It looks now as if
Cleveland would be the man.
Oar Candidates.
News from all parts of our great
country brings the "glad tidings of joy"
over the uomination of Blaine and
Logan lor presideut and vice-president
Everywhere the enthusiasm is intense,
with the exception perhaps of some of
the so-called bolters in New York, who
have decided to not vote the republi
can ticket simply because they did
not get their man to the front. But
aside from these parties the rank and
file of the republican party are well
satisfied over the result, and are flock
ing around the standard bearers with
the old time enthusiasm. Every re
publican should lay aside all prejudic
es and support the nominees. The
majority have said, and the minority
should yield smilingly.
Ohio for Jim and Jack.
BkvAn, O., June 10, 1884.
My Dear Boy: Hurrah for Blaine
and "Black Jack," the peoples choice.
The nomination of these two characters
inspire great enthusiasm in the people
of northwestern Ohio. The party is in
good fighting order now, ready to enter
the campaign feeling confldentthat vic
tory will reward their labors. This is
a ticket without a tail a double-header.
It seems that the Arthur
accident has created more regard for
the tail end of the ticket than hereto
fore, many Democrats of this section
express their intention to support Lo
an, in preference to any man the Dem
ocrats can nominate as second. Blaine
Logan and Victory. Silas Peoples.
