How Watch Cases are Made.
This process of manufacture was invented
by James Boss, who started in business in
1854, and the methods and tools used in
making these watch cases are covered by
patents. Tliis is the only watch cate made
under this process. For many years the in
troduction of these goods was slow, owing
to popular prejudice against "plated" goods,
but gradually the public learned that !ho
James JJoss Gold Watch Case was not a
cheap gold-washed or electro-plated article,
but was made of genuine gold plates of
tiandard quality and thicl:nes. Conscientious
adherence to the determination to make
the best watch case ever put on the market,
and the adoption of every improvement
suggested, has made the James Boss Gold
Watch Case the standard. jatM
In this watch case the parts Ow
most subject to w car the fcotr, croira, hinges,
thumb-catches, etc., are made of solid gold.

REST IX PRAYER.
BY AKCHD. THOMSON.
To pray is to abk,
'lo sisk is to pray ;
The dutiful task
Solicits each day.
Prayer, fervid and deep,
Like Daniel's of Yoie,
I certain to reap
All asked for, and more.
The specific need
The Saviour has taught,
The father will heed
"When earnestly sought.
A chain of requests
Whose links are of sand,
And scores of behests,
Xo blessings command.
The King w:ts he near,
I mean face to face,
Much less would we hear
Of words common place.
In presence so bright
We'd hardly neglect
To use words aright,
And yield more respect.
A pharisee's prayer
Has little avail ;
Or articulate air
The Throne to assail.
The publican smites
At corruption within ;
The Saviour requites
With pardon of bin.
To the Temple once came'
The One and the Other,
It needs not to name
The justified rather.
The two mites were small,
But small in amount,
Yet help'd after all
The widow's account.
3Icrc intuition,
Or feeling, emotion,
Is but the fruition
Of zealous devotion.
And cannot supply
Principles or facts
To believe edify,
Oi guide moral acts.
But most of us pray,
Yet hardly enough,
And much that we say
Is only mean stuff.
The words we thus say,
Then more let us heed,
And prudently pray,
To get what we need.
Some pray very fast,
Some tardily go,
Some rush like si blast,
Some humble and low.
But some to make known
Their ardent request,
Just like si cyclone
Go their very dead best.
Some formal and proud,
Have all cut and dry,
Some desil it out loud,
While some arc quita shy.
With some the words run
Like beads from a thread,
The yarn they have spuiij
By note they have said.
Some mean what they say,
And others mean naught,.
Some have little to say,
Or much sis they ought.
Y"et say as we we will,
To pray is still right,
Then 'let us pray still.
Noon, morning and night.'
But not to e n harass
Any good brother,
And Jtev.
