Tho Sunday-school at Cowles is

Mr. Ed. Gilford, postmaster, and Mr.
Fuller have been busy the lost few
weeks building corn cribs and weigh
ing corn.
Mrs. Paul of Penny Creek, was in
town last Sunday visiting friends.
Miss Ella Beal is teaching in district
near Mr. Wm. II. Thomas's.
WALNUT CREEK.
Married, at the residence of the
bride's parents on Buffalo Creek, on
Christmas eve, by ;Rcv. O. W. Hum
mel, Mr. John W. Mitchell and Mis
Clara Waruock, both of Webster coun
ty. A few of the many friends of the
contracting parties met early in tho
evening and had a good social time.
The only turkoy we havo heard as hav
iug coming to an untimely cud for
some time, was sacrificed on this oc
casion. An excellent supper was
served, and candy and cigurs were lib
erally supplied. The amuHemcnts
werokept up until Christmas was ush
ered in, when, the gubsta quietly dis
persed for their respective homes.
May Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell livo long
lives of happiness and usefulness and
finally reap the reward of well-doing.

Corn turns out far bettor than was
expected.
Mr. Walker is suffering from soro
eyes. It is feared he will go blind.
Mr. James Campbell has just re
turned from Iown, where he wont to
bring his mother out here. They drove
in twenty head of cattle and six or
eight horses. His father came here
last September.
Mr. Geo. Rise has come back from
Iowa and is content to etay in Wob
stor county.
Mount Hojie has a debating society.
It is quite interesting.
Our winter school begins December
26, Mr. Jesse Brooks teacher.
Bill Walden is the happiest and
noisiest man on the creek. He is our
jack rabbit hunter. Ho thinks ho can
run a rabbit down. It is a boy, and
the new roamer and mother aro doing
well.
Mr. Geo. Hulton is on tho sick list.
. He surely suffers, for the disease has
ao much territory to pass over.
Old Man Harvey i nuking broo ns,
tcady at his old trade.
Bill 8mith's steam threshing ma
chine is laid up, waiting for another
crop. It is said that ho is going to run
a corn grinder this winter. We hopo
be will, for it is wanted in this neigh
borhood. Mr. Davidson lost his mother some
where east, ItU said he has found
her and brought her home.
Mr. Myers is building a frame house.
