Thn wavo oftemporanco socnis to be
flouting o'er Red Cloud and wo trust
thn day i not far distant when we
shall hchnld tho horizon hnKhten and
the day star of temperance shall dawn,
and intemperance will sink into obliv
on, The Union temperance mvetinif
at the M. E. Church was a grand sue
cess and the people contributed large
ly to the temperance work in Red
Cloud. Another glorious meeting whs
held in thn Congregational Church on ,
December 13, and we hud (he pleasure
of lixtcning to Mr. Laura Fixeu,
noted nnd popular upcaker who wan
welcomed by the ladies of the W. C.
T. U., by decorating the chnrch with
flowers and flags, and welcoming her
with well selocted songs. Hhe deliver
ed ait eloquent discourse that held the
audience spell bound oicept when her
sarcastic anecdotes caused tho audi
ence to. roar with laughter. As sh
closed her address nnd returned to her
oat she was greeted with cheore. The
ushers then waited upon the audience,
and received large collection, efter
which Mrs. Dodd sang "Where is my
boy to-night," tho audience joining ia
the thorons. We hope the coming:
winter will afford us many -such bone
ileial and nleueatit entertainments.
