The chance are good for Red Cloud to receive a visit from the festive cir cn yet this gcanon. Mr 11. R. Tecry, correspondent and solicitor for the Suite Jwctuil caHd at there headquarters last Saturday. Harvest ha fairly commenced and on every hand the golden grain U being gathered by the careful husband men. There was three trains wrecked on the Republican Valley Division of the B. & M. in the short space of forty eight hours. Another change has been made at the Red Cloud Mills, Mr. Sayre retir ing and Mr. Frisbie again taking hold of the enterprise with Mr. Potter. About the 15th of ne,xt month E. L. Grubb will sell his farming imple ments, stock antl growing corn at auction on hi farm north of Cowlc. See advt. next month. L. Bauni h feeling so good over the prospect of a bountiful harvest for the farmers of this part of the state that ho celebrates by having twins at his house a boy and girl. John Garbcr started last Sunday for the Hot Springs, Arkansas, where Ins father, Mr. Samuel Garber has been for some time. It was tho old gentle man's wish that ono of the boys should join him there. The Red Cloud boys go to Bloom ingtou to-day (Thursday) to play a game of base ball with the Blooming ton nine. They have secured half fare rates and invite all who wish to witness the game to go along. Mr. A. A. Pope showed U3 a sample of winter wheat last Saturdav that he said was raked by Henry Stclfcn, south of the river, and which he says turned out nearly 50 bushels to tho acre, 3j acres yielding 170 bushels. The Hebron Journal hits them a square thrust in the following : "The meanest critfej newspapers have, are men who never spend a cent for one, but slip in and read their neighbor's paper, and then abuse it roundly." The B. fc M. Company having com pleted the eating house at this place, the best building of the kind between Lincoln and Denver, now propose to build a passenger depot at Red Cloud, and, we understand work has already commenced on the same. There will be a temperance lecture at the Congregational church on Wed nesday evening July l'Jth, atS o'clock, by Mrs. Cooley, who is sent by the State Tcmperanco Union. She is said to be a woman of talent, and wo be speak for her a full house. Taul Vandervoort Commander-in-Chief of the Grand Army of tho Re public is expected to be present at tho Soldiers Camp Fire and Festival on the evening of July 25th, 1S82. Speeches for tho occasion will bo made by numerous persons. Wc always thought that if the peo ple of this county would go to work and get rid of the dishonest ring that controlled its affairs for so long, they would be blessed with good crops, and the result of farming operations this year attests our good judgement in the matter. To the farmers and people of Web ster county. I am aware of this fact, that I am dependent on you for tho 6tipportof myself and family, and for this reason I keep for sale harness, collars, whips, ily-nete and everything in the harness line which I will sell at living profits. O. G. Robkrts. In view of the fact that the B. it M R. R. Co., arc spending thousands of dollars in improvements at this place, and that tho country is blessed with an abundant harvest, can anyone have doubts of the future in store for Bed Cloud, Webster county and the great Republican Yidlcy. The Teacher's Institute will com- J mencc at this place August 7th. The Supt., desires to procurc'board with private families for a number of teach ers who will be in attendance. All who are willing to provide for one or more boarders while the Institute lasts are requested to notify the county Supt. Hon. D. II. Wheeler, of Tlatts mouth, Secretary of tho Nebraska State Board of Agriculture has our thanks for complimentary ticket to the 16th annual fair to be held in Omaha. Sept., 11th to 16th inclusive. If we attend the fair we certainly will call at tho Secretary's office and "shake," as requested. Last Monday Messrs. Potter .t Fris- bie presented ye editor with a sack of flour made from this year's wheat. The wheat from which the flour was made turned out nearly 50 bushels per acre, beihg winter wheat of the very best quality. Potter & Frisbie offer this wheat for sate for seed at the very reasonable price of $1.23 per bushel. A sample is en exebition at the Cninr office, and-all who hare" seen it pro nounce it the finest wheat that they have seen in thi country. ' Next Tuesday evening, July 23th, the G. A.
