Walkut Creek, Jan. 15, 1881. Ed. Chief: The friends of Rev. O. W. Hummel held a donation party at the residence of H. H. Holdredge. Esq., on Saturday evening the 7th inst., at the request of his estimable wife; who generously opened her house for the occasion, and contribu ted largely to the enjoyment of all. A large number of persons, memlers of the Methodist and Baptist church, and others were present. The gather ing commenced early in the evening, and the time was pleasantly and profit ably spent in conversation and sing ing a number of popular religious songs, and some more difficult pieces, mostly led by J. D. Allbaugh, the best singer on Walnut creek, hince Mr. R. B. Fulton left us. The entertainment was entirely of a social character, with no speech making and no efforts f display. At about 9 o'clock the company began to disperse, after having donated, as a email token of their appreciation of the faith full services of the Rev. Mr. Hummel, money and other substan tiate, to the amount of $17.00. Every one was convinced that the Squire, Mrs. Holdredge and their accomplish ed daughter, know how to do good and give others pleasure at the same time. We will just add, that a great revi val of religiou is now in progresss on Walnut creek, (at the stone school house), conducted by Revi. Cheetham and Hummel. Meetings have been held day and night for two weeks and will continue for an indefinite period. Walnut. C01OCSSI0NIM FaOSSEBIKOS. Red Cloud, Jan. 17, 18S2. Board met pursuant to adjourn ment.
