Walnut Creek, Dec. 3d, 1881.
Parties arc the order of the day just
now. Such pleasaut weather ought to
be improved.
What is the trouble with tho editor
ofthetrua? We were almost con
vinced, while reading that paper the
other day, that he is not feeling well.
Will some one please toll us vhy
"the great republican leader" didn't
take any active part in the late politi
cal unpleasantnea. of course no one
thinks he would "shirk," or be afraid
to express his opinion. iut uever
mind Bro. Kenney, under existing
circumstances you had better stick to
it, and shake hands, over the "bloody
chasm."
And since we- havo come to think
of it we don't doubt the truth of the
story, for "Women, children and
Idiott" are not considered capable of
interesting themselves in 6uch deep
subjects.
We arc not going to try to make
any defence against the charge of
partiality, entered against us by tho
"Two Orphans," but will only fay in
explanation for our conduct that
should we make .an effort to mention
one half of the deserving people of
Walnut, our pencil would be worn to
the "stub."
We are slightly acquainted on Dry
Creek ourself and we must say we"
were very much interested in the
items from that place, and we hope
we will be favored in that way often.
We were very pleasantly entertain
ed at tho stone school house, on
Friday evening the 2nd, Professor
Wood worth an eminent magician
gave one of the best entertainments
we have ever seen. Before . introdu
cing his magical arts the Professor
made some very pleasant an interest
ing remarks in which he said there
was nothing supernatural about the
entertainment, but like other things a
result from education.
Wo must say we felt for Frank
Conlson, Rob., Mitchel and two or
three more of "the boys." The deck
of cards, the good looking doll-babies
and sundry articles which the Pro
fessor found in their posession, spoke
only too plainly of characteristics
none of us had ever before suspected.
Accept the sympathy, (seriously
offered) of. U. No. Ho.
