AProtrilyratalBoir. We learn that a fight took place on Elm Creek !wt Sunday evening be tween Henry Laverty and E. K. Con rad, in which the latter was probably fatally stabbed. We have not learned any particulars in regard to the cause of the row, neither do we know what kind of a knife was used, but report has it that Conrad will die and that Laverty has not been placed under arrest. There will be a 10 cent entertain ment at the residence of Robert Mitch ell, on Friday evening of this week, given under the auspices of the "La dies Aid Society of the M. E. Church." There will be literay exercises under the control of Prof. Funk, and re freshments for all who come. Do not imagine that it will be a cheap affair because the admission fee is so small. We intend to make it as interesting as possible, and if any one wishes he can pay more. Remember the proceeds are to go towards paying tho second install ment of the church debt. Sec. Another FioatwFAssta From Earth Last Sunday night Nicholas Haney, Esq., of Elm Creek, was stricken down by the relentless hand of death. He was a kind husband and an in dulgent father, and leaves a wife and one child who sincerely mourn his loss. Mr. Haney, was formerly a resident of Ohio, and served three years in the Uunion Army during the war, being a soldeir of Co. I. 77th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. At the close of. the war ho moved with his family to the then territory of Nebraska and resided in Cass county a number of years. Ho moved to Webster county in an .?arly day and settled on a homestead on Elm Creek, whero he resided until his death. He was an exemplary man, univer sally respected by all who knew him, which was attested by the fact that the entire neighborhood attended the funeral service and followed his re mains to their last resting placo. Mr. Haney was a church member and a faithful christian worker, and will be greatly missed by his brethren in the church and all his neighbors, who each realize that when the icy hand of death was placed on the brow ptN-jchqlas Haney ajue and faith- ful friend obeyed the summons to cross the dark river and enter that bourne from whence no traveler e'r returns.
