The Ladies Aid Society of the M. E.
Church will meet at the residence of
Mrs. Dow on Friday afternoon of this
week. All ladies interested in this

M. E. church next Sabbath morning.

evening preaching by the pastor.

fatally stabbed. We have not learned
any particulars in regard to the cause
of the row, neither do we know what
kind of a knife was used, but report
has it that Conrad will die and that
Laverty has not been placed under

Another FioatwFAssta From Earth
Last Sunday night Nicholas Haney,
Esq., of Elm Creek, was stricken down
by the relentless hand of death.
He was a kind husband and an in
dulgent father, and leaves a wife and
one child who sincerely mourn his
Mr. Haney, was formerly a resident
of Ohio, and served three years in the
Uunion Army during the war, being a
soldeir of Co. I. 77th Ohio Volunteer
At the close of. the war ho moved
with his family to the then territory of
Nebraska and resided in Cass county
a number of years.
Ho moved to Webster county in an
.?arly day and settled on a homestead
on Elm Creek, whero he resided until
He was an exemplary man, univer
sally respected by all who knew him,
which was attested by the fact that the
entire neighborhood attended the
funeral service and followed his re
mains to their last resting placo.
Mr. Haney was a church member
and a faithful christian worker, and
will be greatly missed by his brethren
in the church and all his neighbors,
who each realize that when the icy
hand of death was placed on the brow
