A Bill to amend the constitution of
the state by striking out the word
"male" thus giving to women the right
to vote, was pass-cd by the legislature,
and we suppose the proposition will be
presented to the people to be voted
upon at the next general election.
The apportionment bill as passed
gives to Webster county one represen
tative, and to Webster and Franklin
counties together one representative.
The 23d Senatorial district is compos
ed of Webster, Franklin and Nuckolls
counties, and is entitled to one Sena
tor. Ox the 29th, 30th and 3lst of the
present month the annual meeting -of
SLite Teacher's Association of Nebras
will 15 held in Omaha in the nigh
School building. The session promis
to be one of the most interesting and
profitable meetings of the kind ever
held in the state
The Union Taciflc has contracted
for 37,000 tons of sixty-pound steel
mils, 5,000 tons of forty-pound rail,
twelve first class passenger coaehes,
five tirst-class narrow guaage coaches,'
500 box cars, 900 cattle cars, eighteen
ten wheeler, Taunton engines, and
twenty-five narrow guage eugines, to
he delivered during the present
year.
