Miss Ellsworth, the lovely daughter
of a Member of Congress from Connec
ticut. This young lady had been a
most sympathizing friend of Morse in
his hours of adversity and had render
ed eflicicnt service in making friends
for the measure. This message "What
hath God wrought," was a new gospel
of progress sent singing along the first
single wire, and to day myriads of
wires over all lands and under briny
oceans are chanting hack telegraphic
chorus, and soon men seperated thou
sands of miles on continents and by
broadest oceans will talk as if face to
face through the telephone answering

"What hath God wrought."
