Go to Roby'H foe your tobacco, he
has the finest n.-sortnient in town, also
the best lot of cigars to be had.
The Mercury has been fooling

rather unuhtial in this country.
Mrs. Maggie Mubley of tbo Grand

Go to Roby s for canned fruifs, dried

Mr. Magee, of the firm of Jones &

from his home in Cresten Iowa,
last Thursday.
Mr. S. McMinn, one of the Chief's
old substantial friends called last Sat

Just received at Roby's, Silver

Shell Bark Hickory Nuts, Black "Wal
nuts, 51b pails of laid, and Bo&s syrup

It mut bo good, for everybody rec

We mean Dr. Marshall's Lung Syrup,
the great cough remedy. Sold by all
druggists.
The Republican Valley soap factory
is one of the established institutions of
this town. The soap has been put on
the market. "We hope the proprietor
will find in it a bonanza.
Mothers do not let your darlings
suffer with the whooping-cough. Use
Dr. Marshall's Lung Syrup and the
little sufferer will soon find relief.
Only 25 cents and 50 cents a bottle.
A number of the boys gathered to
gether on "Wednesday of bust week and
went out on a wolf hunt. It is, per
haps, needless to say that the "Gener
al" did not show himself. We did not
hear of any game being captured.
The county commissioners proceed
ings and considerable other matter
that was handed in for publication this
week will have to stand over until
next week on account of the annual
report of the county treasurer which
occupies a large amount of our space
this week.
Mr. Ilolleran of the Commercial
house evidently understands the secret
of successfully conducting a hotel,
judging by the business he is already
doing. Having but recently opened
up in this place, he has already all the
custom that his limited room will al
low him to entertain. "When you stop
in Red Cloud give the Commercial a
trial.
The sweeping tide of prosperity is
shown bv the immense increase of
business in the Tatent Office, General

Departments of the Government.

free from objectional cuts. Ayer's
Almanac is always a safe book for the
family. The collcctionbcfore us is a
literary curiositj-, and a remarkable
example of enterprise and liberality.
The annual edition is from ten to elev

The persistence with which some
weak minded individuals strive to
gain notice at the hands of the press,
and the means employed by them
with a view to getting up a controver
sy with an editor of a newspaper for
I the purpose of gaining a little cheap
notoriety, would be amusing, were it
not so disgusting. Guide. Rock is cur
sed by the presence of an individual of
this kind. Experience and observa
tion have taucht us that" the very
worst punishment that can possibly be
inflicted upon an individual of this
kind is to refuse to allow Ids. name to
appear in the newspaper.

SUNDAY MAGAZINE FOR FEB'Y.
This is the second number of the
ninth volume of this excellent period
ical, which is now conducted, we see
by the Rev. Alfred Taylor, an experi
enced correspondent and editor. The
former editor of The Sunday Maga
zine, Rev, Dr, Deems, will, it is an
nounced, be henceforth a regular con
tributor, and other attractive features
been added which will increase its
already great popularity. The present
number is literary crowded with good
things of which our space will only
permit a general notice. "The Tem
pcrcjucc Movement," by Alfred H.
Gurnscy, '"Missionary Success in Tah
iti," by the Rev. Daniel Ekwards,
"Characteristics of the Esquimaux,"
are replete with interest and informa
tion, and liberally illustrated. "Hard
Places in the Bible," by Rev. Dr.
Deems; "Women of the Bible,"
"International Sundav-school Les
sons," "The Home Pulpit," etc., are
among the many noteworthy features.
In the department of fiction "'Out of
the "World" is continued, and there
arc numerous short stories, sketches,
assays and poems by distinguished
writers. The miscellany is unusually
abundant. In fact, the number is a
rarely attractive one in its literary
and artistic features, and highly cred
itable ot the editor. It contains 12S
quarto pages and over 10U illustra
tions. $3 a year; single copy, 23 cents

It- is generally conceded that A.
Lauterbach makes the best bread to be
found in town, and the secret of his
success in the-bread making line lies in
the fact that he uses the superior flour,
which is the best flour made, and is
for sale only at Miner Bros. Call and
get a saqk and be convinced.
Everv woman-who has experience
in'brcad making knows some thing of
the difficulty in always getting the
best results during the" winter season
when the "yeast gets chilled" and the
dough won t work just right The best
thing yon can do under such cir
cumstances is to buy your bread of
Lauterbach who uses" only Bed Cloud
