The late Presidential election has for ever settled the i-iu that divided the country im-u the reMlioit of L01. The decree ha gone forth that this w a nation and not a mere confederacy of States. Resumption is an accomplish ed fact. A paier dollar h as good as a gold dollar. 1 he national cretin is on a solid basis and all financial cxikx imenting b at an end. The over shadowing issue of the future is the Ltfuo between the railroad and the people. Shall corporation kings rule free America? Niall railway monopolies' uiciaic me laws made by our national and state legilalures" and interpret them through venal judges of their own choice? Shall the giant corporation that control all tho public highways Over which American product iiiu'st go to market fix arbitrary extortionate tolls upon transportation and tlut re duce the toiling million. of America to mere serfs and dependents? orhalI the people who gave vitality to thoe cor porations by granting "them charters', who, have built the great trans-continental roads with princely subsidies in lands and bonds, exercise their power. pas laws for their self-protection, and cay to these arrogant monopolies, thus far you ean go and no farther! In the coming irrepressible conflict between the people and the railroads the people ae bound to win in the end. What they now need is able and fe.ir les exponents of their rights. Such u champion they will find iii the Omaha Bee. A Republican paper that has courageously and coiiai.-teutly advo cated railway regulation for years, and to-day stands almost alone as a burrier to the arrogant dictation of Jay (Jould in Nebraska politics; a paper that has always opposed favoritism and discri mination by public carriers and resis ted every attempt of corporations to. evade their just share of the luiulens of taxation; a paper that has never flinch ed fiom exposing and denouncing jol bcry and corruptions wherever it exists. The battle has only jtut begun. The preliminary skirmish will take place in the next legislature. The movement for emancipation from the mis rule of corporation kings has just been started by sturdy farmers iu South-Western Nebraska whose call for organization is the bugle blast that will ere long rally the producer around one common standard. To those who sympathise with this movement and all who desire to be enlightened about every other living issue, the Omaha Bee cannot fail to commend itself. The fact that the circulation of the liEE is larger than that ot any paper norm 01 at. j,ouis ana west 01 uuicago, is the best testimonial of its excellence as a newspaper, and the fact that The Bee is circulated and patronized more extensively in Omaha the stronghold of the Union Pacific than all its rivals combined attest sufficiently the popu- tir conlidcnce it enjoys where its aims . re best known, and where its eilbrts on behalf of the producing and indus trial clashes are most appreciated. In order to extend the circulation of the Weekly Bee, the publishers have placed a large number of useful and valuable articles on their premium list which are to be distribute among their subscribers in the same impartial manner that characterized their first nremiiim distri!.:!iotl last winter.
