It has a mission to perform which never lets up. Day after day it is right there, nor does the slightest tendency to slum ber impair its vigor in the night. Night and day, on the Sabbath, and at holiday times, without a moment-, time for rest and recreation, the biting oil- spring of its existence, interest, goes. on. The seasons may change, days run into weeks, weeks into months and months be swallowed up into the gray man of advancing years, but that mort gage stand's up in sleepless vigilance, with the interest, a perennial stream, ceaselessly mnnhig on. Like a huge nightmare eating out the sleep of some restless slumberer, the unpaid mort gage rears up its gaunt front in per petual torment to the miserable wight who is held within its pitiless clutch. It holds the poor victims with the re lentless grasp of a giant; not one hour of recreation; not a moment's evasion of its hideous presence. A genial savage of mollifying aspect when the interest is paid; a very devil of hopeles destruction when the payments fail. The definition of the word mortgage is "death grip." and ld u Orlr. Mr. Hugh Stevenson was elected chairman, and Eugene Hunter, secre tary. A committee which had been appointed at a previous meetings, made a report that was very encouraging. The project was then thoroughly dis cussed by eight or ten of our leading citizens, and all were unanimously in favor of the undertaking. The fact is, Inavale is going to have a cheese factory. "The farmers have pledged the milk from about five hun dred cow. Their plan is, U find some one who will furnish the capital to erect the the buildings, and buy their milk, or make their cheese at so many cents pcrpound. If they fail in this, they propose to form ar joint stock company, put up the building, furnish the necessary apparatus, and hire some experienced cheese makes to-make the eheese-. There was about thirty of the far mers of this vicinity present at this meeting, they adjourned to meet again in two weeks. Immediately after they adjourned, tliey organized a farmers club; L. IL Luce, was elected president;" W. W. Harvey",. Vice-President; and Chas. Hunter,. Secretary. Their regular meeting will be held once a month, the hist Friday night preceding the fuTT mooir. The question for discus sion at the next meeting is. "Resolved, that raising stock is more profitable, than making cheese." Leader of the affirmative, Wm.-WHson;. negitive; W. AV. Harvey.
