Services will be held on the camp ground next Sunday commencing at 10:30 a. m. Mr. Morhart will soon commence the erection of a new residence in the north-west art of town. Quite a number of our citizens both old and young, st tried this morning to attend the Sunday School picnic to be held at South Guide Rock to-day. m - Frederic William Thomas, editor and proprietor of the Free Press, Philadelphia Pa, died Sept. 7th; aged 70 years. We acknowledge the receipt of the premium list of the Adams county fair. It is a neat little pamphlet, printed by A. L. Wigton& Co., of the Journal. The United states has the largest rrop of wheat the pn sent year that it has had for several years past, while in England the crop is far be low the average. Wc understand that on one of B. O. Perkin's farms, situated on Platte Valley, 400 bushels of oats were threshed from five acres of ground. Battler Co. Press. m Hamptos & Ralston have comple ted a three-seated spring wagon for the mail carrier, thatjs a model of neat ness, and shows tfiat the "boys" are masters of their trade. J. F. Waters has arrived with his Photograph Gallery and will remain ten days. All those wishing pictures will find this a rare chance to get them at reasonable rates. The bridge over Crooked Creek, east of town is in a dangerous condi tion, and should be repaired at once, rfjro-ihe county Is called on to pay damages for some mau's team getting crippled or killed. We arc authorized to announce the same of F. H. Brigham as candidate lor the office of county surveyor of Webster county Nebraska, subject to the action of the county Republican convention1. Mr. and Mr. Scott wish to publicly tender their thinks to the kind friends who gave their assistance and encour agement, at the time of their late sad bereavement. The kindness then ex tended will not soon be forgotten. There will be communion of the con gragational church the 3d Sabbath of Sept. at 1 1 o'clock. At the school house in Red Cloud. Also a pre paratory service on Saturday at 3 o'clock, all christians arc cordially in vited. Twenty-five horses have been sto len from Kearney iu the last two j'cars, and ouly one of them have been recovered, and not one of the thieves have been caught. They ought te come down this way and get little Mark Warncf after them. If the Chief docs not come up to jour expectations, this week, pleac remember that wo have all been sick, and in justice to ourselves ought not to have got out a paper at all. Last Friday wc visited the fair grounds, work was progressing oo the race track, which, wheo completed will be an excellent place for the spor ting fratcrnifv to trr the speed of their stock.
