They are from the eastern part of Iowa, and like ail emigrants from Iowa, represent Ne braska as being far ahead of their na tive State. A school incetipg has beeu called for the 2o:h to determtue upon the expediency of purchasing the erotic house of Mi.Berrj's for the use of the primary department. The build ing, we understand, has beeu oflered to the board for S2.VJ. A visit to the brickyard shows everything in good Working order there. They finished burning the first kiln la-t n'ght, with appareut success. The biick promises to be durable There will be about fifty thousand for sale uext week. Mr. Burton of Willow creek met with u serious accident last week. He was attending to his cow, which was fast ened to a lariat, when the cow sudden ly ran away, aud the rope catchiuj: Mr. Burtou, thiew him upon the ground with such violence as to cause the fracture of his leg arid the disloca tion of his arm. Drs. Head fc Shcrer set tae broken leg, and restored the arm to its place. Mr. Burtou was do ing very wall at last accouuts. The celebration at Riverton was a pleasant apd patriotic affair. The oration by Mr. Lobahz, of this place, was the principal feature of the day, aud excited general commendation. Charley Walker of Riverton, makes one of the best Presidents of the Day. Mr. Mitchell, a homesteader respond ed to a toast with a neat speech of surprising power and eloqueuco. Mr. C. W. Springer delivered a lecture on the Solar System and Crea tion last Tuesday evening. The lecture was an entertaining fetid accurate pre sentation the leading facts' that the latest scientists have discovered relat ing to the planets. Mr. Springer at tempted 'also to haTmanire thz Goo1 logical and Biblical accounts of crea tion. We have always been inclined to believe that attempts of this kind are failures. And accordingly, al though tho lecturer handled the sub ject ably, we are still unconvinced.
