Last Wednesday we had ths b
pleasure of stride up to the lively town
of Hastings. Everything there seemed
to be alive and moving. The amount
of grain bought in this place is surpris
ing, a gret portion of which ls
brought frOw. Smith and Jewell coun
ties Kansas. The junction of the St.
Joe & Denver with the B. & M. at
this place, gives grain buyers an ad
vantage over thoe at any other station
for some distance either way. While
in tbe city we made the acquaintance
of Mr. Wigton who has recently suc
ceeded Mr. Dazue ia tbe editoriakbip
of tbe Hastings Journal, and will un
doubtedly make it a lively and inter
