The Reveille is the name of a new pa
per publit-hed at Wahoo, the new county
seat ot Saunders county, by G. W. Mc
Laughlin. Saunders is a good county
and should give the Reveille a hearty
support.
Mr. Post has painted his dwelling
and enclosed the lot with a neat fence,
also painted white.
Joe Warnkr is fixing up the Valley
House, repainting, etc., all pleasiug to
the eye, and addipg to the adornment of
the town.
"Uncle Sam's" ntusc in finished

was boss carpenter, and Vau Winkle
spread the outside coat of pure white.

The subject of cremation, or the burn
ing of the dead, ha claimed a great
share of the attention of leading Journals
for some months paL Our Indian
brethren, the noble red man of the forest
has been following the practice for ages
with only the alight differenci that they
begin the burning process before, instead
of after, death.
Notice is given to all wanting sawing
done before harvest, to brinx in their
logs within the next two weeks.
We hope and expect that this isue
will be the last with the ''patent out
side" business. We have pent for paper
and an electrotype heading,- both of
which wc hope will be on hand for next
week. In c:uc the heading does not ar
rive in time we shall i-sue without,
which may look a little odd, but need
detract nothing from the genera) interest
of the paper. Wo have had such a step
in contemplation foi some time, and now
make the venture, trusting thnt the in
crease of advertising patronage will
nearly if not quite compensate for the
extra expense.

On Wednesday night of last week, an
indtvidtial by the name of Coats stoic a
horse near Hebron, and "lit out" up
the valley. Tho next night he got as
far as Capt. Munsell's, two miles east of

About 10 o'clock the SherifFof Thayer
county, with a party of four or five men
made his appearance, and arrested Coats
(waking from a sound sleep,) and tying
him with a rope, when he Raw t':ere was
no chance of escape, he instinctively
looked at the rope and then at the tim
bers over his head, and meekly asked if
he could be allowed to write to his fam
ily, evidently thinking that his career
was to be brought to a sudden stop.
When searched it was found that he had
a revolver and seven knives in posses
sion. Tho party making the arrest left
immediately, and we have not yet learn
ed what disposition they made with their
prisoner.

A FEW days since as Mr. l.utz was
going into Kansas, be was asked if be
would haul a bar of iron, which on being
received he recognized as belonging to
the bridge on the Repwblioaa south of
this place. Somebody had taken and
sold it to the man in possession, for the
magnificent sum of fifty cents, the bar
being worth five or six dollara. Mr. Lutx
got to studying the matter, and being a
good loyal citizen of Webster county,
concluded to retain the iron as county
property, and offered to refund the
money expended, which offer was refus
ed, whereupon Mr. L. stated that he
would not give up the property till his
charge for hauling was paid, and eoory
informed the other party to pay $8.00
which was refuse i, and a rush made for
tho wagon whick waa repelled in good
style, by Mr. Lots. Finally the matter
was compromised by the payweat of
$1.50 aad the county property brosght
to Red Cloud aad taraed wner to the
county. As yet Mr. Lata baa aot been
reoutnerated for. kisjmlay and trouble,
but probably will be at the next Meeting
of the Board.
