the ''beautiful snow," which Is a mot
welcome visitor. It Will not be necessary
to "watch and pray" for rain, as it was
last spring. When the frost goes out,
the ground will bo in good condition for
plowing, and we predict an early spring.
Mark Warner, Esq., of Rod Cloud
has been appointed Deputy Sheriff of
Webster county, and has taken the oath
of office. This is a good appointment,
and no doubt will be satisfactory to the

Our Literary Socie was held on
Friday of lat week, and', 'the discussion
was unusually interesting. The question
of debate was upon the right of the
county to vote bonds to asjjUt in build
ing a railroad north and sith across the
