Even here all sanitary pre cautions should bo carefully insisted upon and clean streets and alleys or dered at once. By a slight misunderstanding, the fact that the Weeping Water Band will play on the occasion of the 4th of July Celebration at Louisville, was omitted from the posters. Such is nevertheless ths case, and one of the largest times that has ever been wit nessed in this county is anticipated on that occasion. Some of our readers may remem ber a party by the name of Houston who had ladies' ready made suits for ale at Mrs. Johnson & Misi Sweeaey's a few weeks ago. And Another of Plattsmonth's Tonng Men Become a Benedict. Mr. Wm. Baker very quietly left Plattsmouth a week ago last Sunday, and as quietly returned on Friday bringing with him a wife, the first in timation that many of his friends had of his intention to enter the state mat rimonial. The lady who has promised to make his way throqgh life a path of roses, is Miss Fannie LaForce of Floris, Iowa. The ceremony took place at the resi dence of tho bride's parents, Tuesday the 17th hist., at 1 p. m. Mr. Baker solemnly assured as that he don't know whether the bride's' dress was silk or satin, grcan, yellow, white or black, aud as we have not the pleasure of her acquaintance we are under the painful necessity of refusing our readers a description of it, in consequence. Ail joking aside, we sincerely congrat ulate Mr. and Mrs. Baker, and wish thorn all the happiness a straightfor ward and upright life can bring. Mr Baker has grown toman's estate in our, city and shown himself the possessor of good.steady, reliablo business habits. He has allied himself with the busi ness interests of the place, and has before him a future, in which, aided by a good helpmate he can take rank among successful men, and gain for himself a competence and a name. We say this because we watch with much pleasure a young man of the present day who is willing to sacrifice some what present pleasure to attain a far better future good, and to occupy a po sition of true independence and self helpfulness. Mr. and Mrs. Baker will go to house keeping in the new house being built by Mr. Mathews, immediately npon its completion, and tho many friends of Mr. Baker, ourselves included, will wel come his wife to a home amongst them. Wheeler, F. E. White, J.A.Mac Murphy and others from here went up the first of the week. Some very handsome floral emblems and flowers were sent up to decorate the Lodge for the memorial services for P. M Frank Welch. Somebody send us a pass to Kan sas City. If we could only get there we could go to St. Louis or Chicago for nothing almost well, hardly nothing, but a "nickel" is mighty near nothing to buv a locomotive with, or is man T i 1 Lately the railroads hnyf been en a strike, and the fare from Kansas City to Chicago has been "five cents," and to St. Louis, only S2.C0 Sheriff nyers litllo son fell from a tree last Tuesday and broke his arm in two places. This is a sad accident for the poor little fellow, and will sub ject him to many hours of suffering and weariuess. We also understand a son of George Fiokler had his collar bone broken by the kick of a mule, and a daughter of Jesse Hamilton had her arm broken by a fall from a tree, all the sani3 day. The doctors must have had 'a busy tima with broken bones. An individual purporting to be Dr. C. II. Warner admired wooed and won, all in twenty four hours, a fair damsel of Plattsmouth who assisted at Hicks' restaurant in supplying tho wants of the inner man, aud departed with her to Omaha to be married in a stylo Plattsmouth could not afford. The next day a lady purporting to be his wifo pursued him as far as Pacific Junction where she heard of his do ings and left sorrowing. The brother of the maiden hunted up tho couple finding them at Dakota City, and now tho Doctor languisheth in our new abode for violation of the law and awaiteth his trial which will take place Friday. The Murray wagon, which has met with such a warm popular recep tion, because of its evident merits, is now manufactured by the Boston Buck board Co., at New Haven, Conn. Ex Mayor Lewis is President of the com pany, and Geo. E. Spare, Superintend ent. The factory is at the foot of Wooster street, with .a capacity of turning out one hundred finished car riages a week." Their work is of the very highest order, as examination of their carriages in process of construc tion at their factory clearly proves. Gentlemen desiring very light and very easy riding vehicles should send for their catalogue. Correspondence with parties desiring to take an agency to sell these carriages should be sent to the office of The Murray Wagon, New Haven, Conn. Turf, Field aud Farm Tliede Eaton tells this: A man from Iowa, wont "out west," to start a greenback paper; putting up one night at a very comfortable place, where the landlord and landlady looked hearty and well and everything betokened thrift, ho ascertained they had no children. Thinking ihis strange, next morning he ventured to inquire the reason, The old man replied: Well, we had a boy once, fine boy, too; I gin him a good education, and when he came homo from school I axed him what he'd like to be. "Well," says he, "I think I'd like to be a lawyer;" so he studied law a year and then came home. "Well, how goes," said I. "Don't want to be a lawyer, said he, "it den't suit me exactly." "What do you want, then ?" "Believe I'll try preach ing a year." So he tried that and came home again. "Wfel.lhow goes,'' sard I. 'Don't like preaUlwV" says he, "What do you want to'dlov Scw "Guess if you'll give me a lift III start a green back paper,"' Stranger, I took him, by the earr led him 'round behind tLe 1 barn and shot him.. Wejauxt jjit any ehUdren, nJ' An Unwelcome Visitor. The other day while sitting by one of the desks in the Heiiald office we glanced up and beheld a snake calmly gliding over the cushion of another chair which is the one commonly oc cupied by us. His snakeship speedily paid for his rashness, but having a con stitutional antipathy to such creatures an occasional cold chill will run over us as we consider how he might have given us a little closer embrace than would have been exactly agreeable had we chanced to be occupying the chair which he appropriated. Ihe Death Rate of Our country is getting to be fearfully alarming, the average of life being les sened every year, without any reason- ible cause, death resulting generally from the most insignificant origin. At this season of the year especially, a cold is such a common thing that" in the hurry of everyday life we 'are apt to overlook the dangers attending it and often find too late that a Fever or Lung trouble has already set in. Thousands loose their lives in this way every winter, while had BoscJiee's Grr nwm Syrtip been taken, a cure would have resulted, and a large bill from a doctor been avoided. For all diseas es of the Throat and Lungs, Bosr-liees German Syrvp has proven itself to be the greatest discovery of the kind in medicine.
