The great popularity the
Mason te Hamlin Groan
has deservedly obtained in this County
has induced several unscrupulous ren
ders of otlter orynis to'resort to various
tricks to dispose of their organs. The
?ast that has come to our notice is
informing our friends that they have
secured the agency for sale of the Ma
son & Hamlin Organ, but of course
they assert that they only furnish
them to parties who will have no oth
er. For the information of Friends
of the Mason & Hamlin Organ I will
say these men are Frauds and that
only the gentlemen named below can
furnish the Mason & Hamlin Organ.
If other agents are appointed in the

THE MASTIN CHILD.
The End of Last Week's Tragedj.
By agreement, the attorneys for the
parents of the Mastin child about
whom the tragady of last week cen
terrd, agreed to argue the case before
Judge Sullivan, on Tuesday evening
last. Such case was argued, and the
Judge coming to the conclusion that
the case was brought before him on a
wrong presentation, and that the stat
utes provided for another remedy, dis
missed the case a3 far as the writ of
habeas corpus was concerned. The
lawyers argued the case Friday even
ing after seven o'clock, and the Judge
dismissed the case, there being a better
issue in our statutes under which the
case might have been brought.
Late that night, at the request of
the relatives of Mrs. Mastin, Messrs.
W. B. Shryockand Win. Brant ner. with
the mother, obtained the child and
left these parts for Kansas, by way of
Pacific Junction.
GREAT EXCITEMENT.
The news soon spread, and Mr. Lo
der, Mr. Mastin, the father of the child,
with Marshal Murphy, followed across
the river and found the woman, child,
Messrs. Shyock and Brantner, at Pa
cific Junction, on Saturday morning,
early.
Of course, Shryock set up the plea
that he had only been employed to
take the woman over to the railroad.
Later, a portion of the biains .and
bowels of the bar of Plattsmouth fol
lowed in a buggy, that is to say, Messrs.
Chapman and Pottenger, attorneys,
and after a great deal of parleying,
the woman gave up the child to the
custody of the father, Jos. Mastin, and
left, herself, for Kansas.
All suits, claims, and proceedings
thus far in the matter to be abandoned.
It is a sad matter at best. AVe are
informed that Mr. Mastin is a quiet,
peacable citizen ordinarily, and acted
in this matter about the writ, as served
by the sherilT, under a total misappre
hension of the facts. In stating this
matter last week we gave the facts as
we received them, from the best in
formation to be obtained.
