The officers and Directors of the
Cass county Agricultural Society are
requested to meet at the Court House
in Plattsmouth, on Monday, Sept., 30,
at 2 o'clock sharp, for the purpose of
auditing all bills and accounts against
the society. All persons having any

We made mention last week that
the ladies of St. Luke's Ouild had sent
out committees in t lie various wards
to solicit bedding and other supplies
for the yellow fever sufferers. Some
misunderstandinghas arisen webelieve
in regard to the work being entirely
confined the to Episcopal church, w hich
is a mistake. Any help from other
church members will be thankfully re
ceived, or from people belonging to no
denomination. All are asked to con
tribute, to solicit, or to help in any
way they can. A box was sent olT
last Monday containing 2!) shirts, 71
pillow slips, 57 nun's shirts. IS boys
shirts, 37 chemises, 2S night dresses
and shirts, 1 bed quilt, 1 blanket, 1
spread and quite a quantity of child
rens clothing, and other articles. Near
ly enough had been obtained at the
time of writing for another box, and
any articles still sent in will be for
warded promptly.
Mr. Julius Pepperlerglost the con-
' tents of his pocket book last Saturday,
night. He. in company w ith his wife
attended the theatre. On their return
they found the back door of his house
unlocked, which aroused their suspi
cions and Mr. P. made a thorough
search of the house as he thought, but
found nobody within. The next morn
ing, however, the pants which he had
worn the night before were found lv-
ing out in the kitchen, the pocket book Heading, Arithmetic. (leography, Eng
which had hi en in the pocket beside lish Grammar, and the Ilistorv of the
them and the contents of it, some 828,
gone. The supposition is that the man
must have secreted himself under the
bed, watched where Mr. P. put the
pants, and after they had gone to sleep
secured them and escaped as he had
come. The kitchen window had been
removed, and a couple dozen eggs in a
dish on the table in front of the win
dow were smashed, probably in their
attempts to get in or out This rob
bery was evidently accomplished by an
experienced hand, and we hear rumors
also of a man being robbed on the
transfer train, w hich looks Very much
as if we had a gang in our midst who
were deliberately carrying on their ne
farious operations, If some attempts
are not made at detection and punish
ment we shall probably Lave more rob
"beries to chronicle.-
Billy Marble.
Billy Marble, the popular Comedian,
will be in Plattsmouth three nights of
this week, Thursday, Friday, and Sat
urday, Sept. 2Gth, 27th. and 23th.
Marble will be supported by his own
Company and produce three excellent

Special Excursion Train.
A special excursion train to the
State Fair has been run by the B. &
M. Ii. K. to Lincoln and return since
Tuesday last, on which the fare for
the round trip and admission to the
Fair Orounds is $1.50. This train
leaves Plattsmouth at 3:10 p. m. and
returns at 10:15 a. m. Special rates
have also been given on the regular
trains, consisting of one fare for the
round trip and fifty cents additional
into the fair grounds. These tickets
are good to return until the 23th.
