At last the Weepir.g Water bridge

was up here last week with a numer

Tucker bridge be put in repair, claim

road that can be traveled, and the o?;e
altogether lovely. We hope Mr. Fos

Not a Puzzle.
It i3 not a puzzle it is only a f ic
simile of a sign that appears on aDoug
las street window. Somebody told
them to paint it from the inside, and
thev did ho. It looked all rijht from
that side of the window bat a front
view showed something like this:
SRALLOD 3 DRAOI3 YAD
KEEW REP
When all that had been accomplished
they went out to see how it looked, and
were horrified. The balance of the
sign was painted on the outside of the
window, thusly:
ICE CREAM
lEMMonnAdE.
Pa.-sion for Tra.Eaj.
A woman was here lasi week trad
ing gloves, laces, and t raps for old clot hes
and my! what a business she did. All
the ladies rushed to see her, the girls
embraced (that's it, ain't it) the oppor
tunity, and the way the old (?) clothes
and some new went was a caution.
Elam Parmele took a four horse
load of truck to the depot for her.
When men came home their old hats
old pants, comfortable shoes, and ev
erything was gone swapped for rib
bons, gloves, and laces.
It is said that Sunday when some of
tbe girls (we mean young women)
came to get ready for church it was
found they had forgotten that they
needed anything of a toilet but a pair
of gloves and some lace. Their moth
ers couldn't let 'era go in that costome
so they have to stay in until some more
clothes can be "sesved up" for them.
Don't we yankeea like to swap.

For the Grst time this year the Her
ald and family drove down to . Mr.
Ilesser's famous gardens some days
since. The Hoppers and other draw
backs have made industrious and ener
getic Hesser feel rather blue lately
but the prospects this year for crops
and his own success once more begin
tocheer thelively little man up. hisstep
resumes it3 wanted nervousspeed, and
we feel that Ilesser's on his native
heath, himself once more. Now u's no
use to tell you about the big century
plant and the nightblooming Cerus (the
girls know about that,) and all the
other wonders, not to leave out the lit
tle fishes, for you can go and see them
for yourselves. The Herald hopes
that Mr. Hesser will have no more
streaks of bad luck but that the "Gar-

bad luck we have in store for the "Pic

Please Remember these Tact.
Mr. Editor: I was told to-day by a
man, that a member of a firm doing
business here in this town said I did
not cast anything in my foundry, and
he knew beit?r, and I have been at a
loss to kn--.v why I was not getting
more work in t'13 foundry line. Now
I make and have made stove tops,
backs, grates, and lids, and can make
any casting that is wanted by the peo
ple in this vicinity. But if men d ing
business here will keep all the woik
away they can see why I do so little.

of many of the Ague remedies in the
