We were up in Lawyer Windham's
new o.'lice the other day. lie is fixed
up very nicely and evidently means
business. With wind enough he ought
to tain ham enough to keep "kisself"
as -,i lawyer in this town, and we guess
he will.
The pavement on Vine Street is at
la.st fixed very handsomely. We give
the owners, the Marshal, and the Car
penters all credit, and take back all we
ever said about any of 'em. No more
stubbed toes and torn dresses Sunday
nights, now, unless the boys and girls
do it a "puppus."
NOTICE.
All persons indebted to me are re
quested to come forward and settle by
the first of January, cither by note or

the hands of an o:Ticer for collection.

John Shannon says that dunning no
tice in the Heeald isn't bringing in
as much money as it ought, and the
Watchman has completely cut him out
by saying that he will put' collections
in the hands of the "meanest collector
in town;" for every one of them deny
being the meanest, and so John is left
out in the cold. He wants the boys to
coma up now, and he'll make them a
Christmas present of a receipted bill,
whenever they show cause for the
same.

A friend of ours down the street, a
great sportsman and an officer in the
P. S. C, has a very fine setter mother
dog, us the Hermans would say. An in
crease in hvr family being one of the
events of the day, our sporting friend
has been promising and selling pure
setter pups for some time. Not only
this, he made a bet with Cap't. of SV
UJO on the quality of the new pups, &c.
Well, the pups are here, ten of 'em
Two strongly resemble Dick St fright's
coach dog. three are born "black and
tans," three are unmistakable shepherds
a poodle, a fiste, and a half blood point
er comprise the rest. Five of this
choice litter are promised and sold so
that only five are left. He now offers
to pay his SI, 000 bet in pups at
apiece, and if Ids friends go back on
the other 5 he will throw them in as'
interest, or make weight.
