We hive heard it whispered out west
that Judge Sprague, of the firm of

of C.iss, and well known in both Cuss

judge of law. They might go further
and fare worse for a "Judge."

r.AHXUM'S IIIPPOMiOJIE.
This celebrated show will be in Oma
ha on Monday, September 0th, where
it will give two grand performances,
at - and S o'clock p. m. The II. & M.
11. II. will run excursion trains for the
the benefit of those who may wish to
attend. Head what the Chicago 2'iiua
of July 10 says about this show:
The great canvas show of the time,
Harnum's Hippodrome and circus ar
rived in town yesterday. In the even
ing at least lU.ooO people crammed the
great pavilion on the lake shore, and
tiie show proved the eminent attractive
amusement feature of the evening.
The great tent is very comfortably tit
ted with reservwd chairs, and is well
lighted. The races ;ire. clearly seen by
the assembled thousands. The perform
ance commences with the entry of the
Congress of Nations. This included
tableaux of Queen Victoria; William
of Germany; Napoleon III, of France;
Pope Pins Ninth; the Saltan of Tur
key with lights of the harem ant! atten
dant eunuchs; the leaders and states
man of Ireland; the Emperor of China;
Tippo Sahib of India; Gens. Geo. Wash
ington; Israel Putnam, of Massachu
setts; Phillip Schuyler of New York;
Henry Lee. of Virginia; Ethan Allen,
etc. Following the Congress of Na
tions comes the performance of Satsu
ma and the original "Little All Hight"
in their marvelous balancing feat. A
"Hat" race for the ladies in the saddle
and habit succeeds; one in which no
less than four ladies take an active
part Sketches from Indian life, t lie
advantage of studying up human char
acter in many foreign phases, contrib
ute to the interest of lie show. The
race between English and American
jockeys is unusually interesting. An
elephant and camel race; a chariot race
for four horses aside; and a ladies hur
dle nic, were received with considera
ble applause. The fact is that the
present Harnum show is almost entire
ly made of competitive races, which
are to all appearance honestly won.
The management brings a liberal
supply of good horseflesh, a number of
daring and skillful lady and gentlemen
equestrians, and some special gymnas
tic and circus attractions not to be sur
passed in attractiveness on the face of
the globe.
