Going to the Shoot.
Games and sports, like the smallpox
and measles, are epidemic and very
contagious. It is funny to watch how
each comes up in its turn and has a
run, and then dies out. Three years
ago Base Ball set tho world crazy, then
"Presbyterian Billiards" (Croquet,)
gave all the able-bodied men and wom
en a whirl. This summer it is neither

we have been having it for a fortnight

CJ.A. Ashman, of Weeping Water
called on the IIekald Tuesday. He
quite a Sunday School man we perceive.
Faxon has gone again, and no more
shall the yell of that bell boy waste
its sweetness in our Plattsmouth air.
Mr. J. M. Sampson, he of Faxon's
outfit, is one of the best auctioneers we
ever heard, besides being a prompt,
good paying business man to boot, and
if he can't pull the pillars of a temple
over he can knock down gwods to the
lowest bidder with any of 'em.
Dick Reese fiixed our wrench as cute
as could be, and Mike Schnellbacher
dod-rodded our sign up so even Satur
day's big wind couldn't blow her over.
Mike is heavy on signs.
We are pained to hear that Cap Whit

is in very bad health and not likely to

the trouble. We extend our sympathy

been visiting this town on his second
trip for the alove House. He is an old
friend and acquaintance of the Her-i
aid and represents a number one

Mr. Thos. Pollock, Sec. of our School
Hoard, one of our Councilmen, and a
prominent citizen generally has been
fighting UronchitM for some two weeks
most manfully. We are happy to an
nounce that he is fast conquering old
IJrownciveters and coming out strong,
as Mark Tapley says, on the side of
health and strength oneo more.
