Still our word must be kept, and this latter must be written. Loaving old Cass on the 24th of last February, we glided swiftly(?; along until about riine o'clock p. m., when the cars came to a sudden stop, and the rexl glare reaching some ways out on each side of the locomotive, soon caus ed us to realizo that that that very necessary part of the train was on Cre. Snow was very plenty, shovels ditto, and soon up brakes was tooted, and away we went again for perhaps an hour, then overtaking a freight train, preceded by a snow plow. They switched off and and passed on, and soon reaped the fruits of somebody's folly, for son her chug! cfiu c7iu chu, went the engine, but tho train stood still. Wo were in a snow drift the full length of the train, the snow coming up to the second step of the platform. For about one and one half hours the engine and shovelers were busy, then on we crejt aguin, ar riving at Kearney Junction at 1 o'clock next morning, some four hours lato for the LT. P. connection. Next day took passage on emigrant trainrriving it Plum Creek at 1 p. m. Found snow so deep teams could not safely cross the divide, so we waited thrae days for teams to come over and had to finally hire a rig with which we started for the "land of promise." otherwise Deer Creek Valley. The account of that trip we will leave for a future letter, as it is fraught with no pleasant memories, and would consume more than our alloted space. Tho Aid business is in a very pros perous condition at present, for seed rs beginning to arriTe, and soon we will have another crop under way for ourselves, or perhaps for the "hoppers," who of us can tell. Some of our farmers sowed wheat a week ago, others broke prairie and stirred old ground two weeks ago. We have no Indian troubles, nor do we see any of them. Still as this Black Hills business may make them hostile, wo intend organizing a home guard, and not be caught napping. A Grange is soon to be organized here; we'll proba bly start out with over thirty mem bers. With regards, I remain very truly, E. S. Chili. Gos! -Hot! Whoop' Anions the railway travelers eating dinner at aloarding house near the Midland Pacific Railway depot yester day, was an unsofistioated chap from Fayotte,Ohio, who hoisted in meat, po tato, and bread as if he had been a week without eating. A second cup of coffee was brought to him, and in his hurry he picked it up, and took a large swallow. It was con siderable hotter than iepper, and in his excitement in eating, fearing all the time that he would miss the train, the Buckeye opene 1 his mouth and shot the liquid across the table against a young man's imaeulate shirt front, which was bestuddodwith diamonds of the first water, completely saturating said ghirt front. - Gosh whoop hot br-g par don and blazes!" he exclaimed, reaching after water.
