Bakery, on the corner of Sixth and
Main streets. One Bakes and Confects
and the other Paints and deflects.
Musk-rat in the water. By some mis
hap (as always happens) nobody had
thought of a rope to hold her, and
when she floated on the water, oil she
went. Miles Morgan jumped in. clothes
all on, and fastened a line to her bow
when we towetl the great Astonisher
iu. After the launch a number of the
boys went in swimming.Jo. Sharp.Ecwis
Baehr, Whisky Dan and others dis
tinguished themselves; Fred Kroehler
cotild'nt swim and the boys went for
him simultaneously. John Shannon,
John Bussell, Charley Eazenby, and
the Editor did not strip, reason, we had
no rudder to steer by, and being uu ac
quainted with the Platte Itiver, did'nt
care about a funeral just now. The
rest had lots of fun.
This Ferry will be of great advantage, i
to Plattsinouth; we hope to get some
Sarpy county trade now at we are as
sured rates will be reasonable and our
body waters at that there pump and it
makes a mud hole front there down
the street. Now the people complain
and say when they ask the city to
open the gutter ami lead the water oil
they are told to do as they did in Jer
usalem or some other old fogy city like
this one. Each man in Jerusalem may
hev kept his own door yard clean, we
have their word for it, but we have no
won! that Jerusalem had a city coun
cil that levies 3 mills tax and street
commishener to prevent no, help
draw it. The people in East Main St.,
did'nt put that pump there. don't make
that slop there, and they want it
cleaned. If this pump and this stink
ing gutter was up town under the
nose of the Post OlKce or the Bank or
some gentry up there, it would be
cleaned fast enough. So:

Mr. Peter fiherkert of Lincoln was
drowned at Seward on the 13th inst.,
while bathing in the Blue.

been started three miles from Lincoln.
Three gentlemen went through
Grand Island on the 12th with 1100
head of sheep, bound for the Cache-la-Pondre
Valley, Colorado.
The dead body of a Swede was found
near the river about a mile below
Brownville last week. He was sup
posed to liaA-e hung himself to a sap
ling near by.
Mr. Morton, a farmer near Omaha,
referred to in this section shall be

Sec. 11. All Ordinances or narts of
Ordinances in conflict with this Ordi
nance are hereby repealed.
Sec. 13. This Ordinance shall be
in force and effect from and after its
passage and publication according to
law.
