STATE OF NEBRASKA. , Executive Department, Lincoln, Jan. 10th, 1874, To tne Commissioners of Cass County Nebraska Permit me to call your attention, especially, to the First Section of an act, entitled, "An act to provide for the enumeration Of the population, and registration of th& births and deaths, hi the State of Nebraska," approved Febuary 12th. 18J9 Chapter 7, "Cen sus," page 101k General Statutes of Nebraska. I suggest that the provis ions of this act relating to "a careful enumeration . of the total number of persons residing in the several prec incts of" your county be promptly and carefully complied with. Heretofore, I understand, but little, if any, atten tion has been paid to this act. With our rapidly increased, and increasing population, the question of Congres sional representation is an important one, and m which the people are mani festing a lively interest. The state of Nebraska is without its just and legitimate representation in Congress, and no effort or duty should be left unperformed to secure our due in this respect. It is believed that, with a satisfactory showing of our actual population, one, if not two, ad ditional representatives in Congress can be obtained. It is important that the census should be FULL and ACCURATE, to accomplish the object sought and desired. ROBT. W. FURNAS, Governor. Centaur Liniment.
