During our absence several changes

to come back to a new town, a new rail
road company, and to find ourselves an
entire stranger in the land that but re
cently we left, sure of our footing and
recognition by most of its citizens.
Contrary to these reports we still find
most of our old friends at their pot, and
tight glal are we to wish them a Happy
New Year. Mr. llolbrook and . Mr.
Brown looked just the same as ever, and
aid "howdy," with as much sung froid
as if 1S73 had never kicked out its heels
at old '72 or any other man. So mote
it be!

sort of ticket office, was burned Tuesday
