will have a center track capable of traus

Her engines are of tho most substantia

The murmur is loud and reaches us
from every quarter that the farmers of

wisely, and tho people will say "well
done."
The Peoria Transcript in an article :n
tha eubject of the Vice Presidency,
says :
"A Washington correspondent tele
graphs that the fiieu d of Senator Wil
son, of 31a-sacl:usetts, will pro.-s tbe
claims of that gentloman for viee-President
on tho llepubHcan ticket, aiding
that he had a!rendr secured several
States, among which they named Illi
nois. While, pcrhap, there may be no
personal or political objection to Senator
Wiison as vice-Pi -csident, still it may ex
cite a little curiosity in tunny Republi
cans of this State to know exactly who
has tho authority to pass Illinois over to
any particular candidate, either in re
spect to the Presidential or any other
ticket. We are somewhat of the opin
ion that Illinois hasn't yet eiprisaed her
self. In describing a yountr man's love af
fair with an actress, a Western reporter,
say3: "His heart stiil walloped faithfully
for the actress, and a3 soon as his re
turnins feet honored our shore he flew
to her on the wings of love and impa
tience." Ought not some lover of the
English language wallop ihat reporter?
"A lot of the prettiest littlecofans for
Christmas yoH ever saw," was a Ken
tucky advertisement.
"Who settled Virginia?" "John
Smith." "Who unsettled Virginia?"
"John Brown." "Who set: led John
Brown?" "Virginia."
