The result of my oltfcrvatioris are,
that so far as I h-ve seen, the soil of all

The soil on the valleys of the I'latte,

many creeks that arc tributary to them,
and on the table land between the Platte

deep. light, sandy Ioaui, rich with vege

As a Nebraskian, having lived many
years in the wilderness of Nebraska, I
feel truly glad to see the ajproach of the

the elements of refinement and civiliza

Nebraska with a commendable, generous
liberality toward settlers seeking homes,
and all those with whom it has business

rapid increase of business, by tho heavy
passenger trawl and freight traffic, as

May success attend the energetic efforts

The above shows the necessity for -se
cret work in the Convention. A gener
al "whipping in"' had to be done before
"harmony" could prevail.; aud notwith
standing the bold call of the Times for
a straight party tiekct, and the loud and
windy assertions of the Register, that it
will not "whip in" or "coax," we pre
dict that both these very positive (?)
and desperately upright journals will
hoist the mongrel recommends of their
party, and will not dare to utter a single
word in advocacy of the above very
clever and cheap demonstrations of par
ty adherence. The secret version proba
bly done the business for them. We
shall see what we shall see.
