By letter from Hon. John Gillespie,
Chairman of the Nebraska Soldiers Re
union Committee, we learn that he had
effected arrangements with the officers of
the 0. li. & St. Joe. Railroad Company
whereby all soldiers attending the re- j
union at Lincoln, on the 4th, will be
passed over that road free. Soldiers de
siring to attend will be furnished with
passes signed by the member of the com
mittee in their respective counties.
McCallum & Collins are the naine-3 of
the proprietors of the gunboat
stranded just above town. The afore
said "boat" is composed of 35,X0 feet
of Cottonwood logs; started fteiu the
mouth of the Little Sioux rive-, 180
miles above this place, on the 9th, for
Omaha, where they expected to dispose
of the logs- They missed the landing
there, and fell helow ; and then decided
to go to Nebraska City, but have now
decided to remain where they are lor a
while, or sell the logs at Plattsmouth.
The crew consists of six persons four of
the oi iuUre.-tcd in the raft. The raft is
now high and dry on a sand bar, and will
undoubtedly remain there until next sea
!oii unless it is taken apart and the logs
removed singly. The craft came along
beautifully ou the trip except the ran
i::to a bar once and againt the bank once
near old St. Marys. This is the first log
rait we ever knew of coming this low
down the river. We learn the following
