We have heard a great many people who have been in our city for a it w weeks or long enough to see the bu-iness and surroundings! of the place make the remark that they "can't see why Plattsmouth should not be the be-t city on the Missouri river." That's just what's the matter. No man can see why it should not be the largest and best city in the wet, but they "V? see why" it should and will be the best. It has the best railroad facilities of any city in the west not excepting our worthy and enterprising, neighbor, Om:d:a and it drains the fine-t agricultunl country in the world. We know this is saying a great deal, but we believe we are justified in saying it. Take he scope of country drained into Plattsmouth by the 1. A; M R. R. in Nebraska, and we do not believe it can he ieat in thr tan-Id in point of natural wealth. There is not a foot of wa- te laud, and it h is a soil of unsurpassed richness. It is im possible to tell of all the re a ons why anyone "cvr.'i see" that Piattsmouth is to be the irreat commercial emporium of the west; but it is a'l expressed in ih" sentence which is placed at the head of this item.
