The Pawnee Tribune says "The Gran ary of Mr. Malory, about four miles from town, was struck by lightning on the night of the 3d inst. and consumed. Notwithstanding the storm, the light was visible many miles distant - Loss about $400. 'During a storm one night about a week previous several stacks were struck by lightning near Table Rock. Palmer, of Chariton, Iowa, has purchased the Platte Valley House and the lots adjoining. The Capt. has great faith in Plattmouth becoming the great city of the Missouri Valley. F. Judge Whalcy died at his residence in Columbus, Nebraska, last Sunday evening. He was well known through out the State. The Brownville Brass Band asked $500 and expenses at Lincoln, paid, for attending the laying of the corner stone of the State University The Republican Precinct Meetings, for choosing delegates to the County Convention, will be held on Monday next unless otherwise arranged by the Repub licans of the precinct. We hear of quite a number of Cass county people who arc going to the State fair. Cass should contend for a reasonable number of premiums and sho can cet them. I.et candid, cool headed men be sc lected from the different precincts of the county, to attend the Republican County Convention on the 29th, and a ticket wiii be nominated that will give satisfac tion to the Republicans of the county. Mr. Henry Robertson, of Ottumwa, lias opened a wholesale Liquor and Ci gar store, one door cast of Win Ilerold'n,' on Main street. He purposes bringing fre.li Oysters through direct from Balti more as soon as through cars are run via Burlington on the great air line to the Pacific. Capt Palmer, who recently purchased the Platte Valley House, in this city, left for Chariton, this morning. He will probably add another set ot rooms to the Platte Valley, this fall. They do not say what the intention is, but we presume it is only to Le issued during, the continuance of the County Fair.
