The mere sight of some suggest to the

There is scarcely a word (not even
the word "Deaih;"unless it is t'ie death
ef an unrepentant sinner)in the Eng
lish language, so suggestive of sorrow.
The "Bar,"n is indeed not a misnomer.
The sad experience of thousands has
proved the "Bar," to be not only a
place where "liquor is delivered out,"

Thousands have found it the Bar.
which debarred them from all that once
was good aud noble.

Eternal Darkness and Death.
Thousands of hearts made sad and
desolate by those who have commenced
aud are pursuing their career of wick
edness at the "Bar" are weeping tear
of blood. Many, are the destitute and
eutfwinu wives and children, who are
'even now weeping over the wrck of
-.that was once a noble, kind, and atTec
u'onate husband and father, try in? to
reclaim him from the Highway, which
lead and speeds him on to cerium de
struction! Oh, let all who have seen(and who
has not?) the nobleness of man thus
bjsed aid in trying to reclaim the
sin cearmed host.

A good joke is told of a preacher in
Nebraska, who dined with a friend just
before afternoon services. As it hap
pened, this friend occasionally luxuna
led ia a smile of the ardent, aud some
unies carried a morocco covered flask
in hit overcoat pocket. By a mistake
the minister took the friend's overcoat
