very interesting R. R meeting last Mon
day at which a committee of prominent
citizens was appointed jiuiilar to the one
appointed at the meeting in this city.
Saveral citizens of this place attended
the meeting, and theyjexpress themselves
highly plenspd with the spirit manifested
by our neighbors over the river in rela
tion to R. R. matters. There is the
greatest unity of feeling between Milis
and Cass counties on R. It. matters.
C"We learn that J. J. Woodrow, of
Ashland, is selling off his stock of boo's
shoes, harness fixtures etc., at cost nnd
many articles at l?ss than cost in order
to make room for an entirely new lot

ery being imj roved, and all things tend
to the comfort and general good of man
kind. One of the moat progressive
moves we have ..oticed in this part of the
country is the reduction of toll by Mr.
Dean, at Ashland. He is now grinding
for one eighth, and his improved machin
ery cnatiles him to do this. We doubt
not the farmers of Cass; Lancaster and
Saunders counties will show their sppre
ciation of friend Dean's liberality by tak
ing their grain to bim.
