The exact location of tbis city,
which hat been sought for faithfully
for the past two weeks, was found. It
ii situated on a part of aeiiont 23,25
and 26, town 10 range 6, in the coun

original town site ef Lancaster. We
cay the location was found; although
the official announcement has not yet
been made, the location has bean de

sufficient title to the State on or before
Friday ef naxt week. That the title
will be complete there is no reasona
ble doubt, and then the official an
nouncement of the location will be
made. It is a well known fact that
this location was not the firrt shoice of
the people of Casts County, neverthe
less it is the location made by the com
missioners, and the one upon which the
State buildings are to be erected.

THE DISTANCE.
The reported location of the city of
Lincoln in the southwest corner of
Saunders county seems to cut the
corners of Piattsmouth and Nebraska
City, for th reason that it is nearer
Omaha than either of them. By an
air line it is about the same distance
frem Omaha and Piattsmouth; but
the later place has to travel around a
big bend in the Platte river to get to it,
so that it is made several miles in fact.
Nebraska City is till worse off being
not less than fifteen or 'twenty miles
farther from the reported losation than
Omaha. Republican.
The above would probably be a very
fair rendering of the distance to Lin
coln from the principal cities on the
river, only the said Lincoln City is not
located in "the southwest corner of
Saunders county," but at the town
formerly known as Lancaster, in Lan
caster county, which is two miles near
er to Piattsmouth than it is to Nebras
ka City; and seven miles nearer to
Piattsmouth than to Omaha by air
lines.

The appeal of .he Republican Con

ry aid in carrying on the Reconstruc
tion campaign in '.he South, commends
itself to all patriotio citizens. The
Commitee have j already expended
nearly S23.000, rfiainly derived from
the private contributions of Senators
and Representatives, end their purse
is now empty. They have sent more
than 70 active and intelligent speakers
and organizers through . the South ;
they have distributed an immense
number of documents; they have formed
Republican Clubs' and Committees in
every State: and they express the un
hesitating conviction that with a rea
sonable persistence and energy on our
part we may tarry the wholeSauthJJat
the next elections; But the Southern
loyalists are poorj they can give little
except their votesi to the cause of the
Country; the necessary expenses of the
campaign must bo defrayed mainly by
the Union party f the North. One
hundred dollars now, say the Commit
tee, will accomplish far more than
610.000 a year faience. We beg our
friends to be liberal and prompt in their
contributions to the good cause. Com
