"We defy a comparison of figures,
m to amounts of freight shipped west,
with any town on the river the size of
Pliittsrnouth. There has been scarcely a
day daring the season but that wagons
h ive started out, and instead of the trade
diminishing in the fall of the year, 8 is
uual with other towns, it has steadily
increased. The reason of this is that
whoever travels this road once never
leaves it to travel another; and freighters
hive found that they can transport
freight from here for at least $1 50 per
hundred cheaper tban any other point,
and as fast as the route is tested it is
appreciated.
C57"Mr. B. Knowles ngent of of the
North Western Mutual Life Insurance
Compnny, is in town for a few days only.
This company is winning golden opinions
from the public, for their prompt manner
of doing business, ind the liberal term
they olTor. This is emphatically a home
company, being devoted exclusively to
tho Northwest. Let our citizens study
this matter of Life Insurance, and we
will guarantee that when they once under
stand it the work of the agent will be
much less than now. While that dread
ful scourge of the world, tho Aiatic
Cholera, is advancing upon us with sure
and rapid strides, it behooves our people
to in-une their lives, so valuable to their
f amilies and we would suggest that the
Northwest Company, with its three years'
accumulation of profits, has a much bet
ter chance of .standing through the crisis,
than any Eastern Company can have.
In our judgment, no o is the time to do
a good thing. To morrow is not ours.
Let our citizens examine this subject on
it- merits.
