A well edited little paper called the Syracuse Journal, has reached our table. It is published and edited by Albert Jo3'ce at the town of Syracuse, Otoe county Neb. For the past week we have had very beautiful pleasant days, but oc casionally the nights have been alarm ingly cool, and light frosts visible of mornings. In turning ov er its pages we find them filled with timely and seasonable articles from such writers as J. Sterling Morton, Prof. Samuel Aughey, Lawrence Bruner, C. H. Walker, R. W. Fur nas, Prof. Culbertson, Dr. Mansfelde. etc. We eeldom see such an array of talent a3 this on an3T periodical and it ought to guarantee the greatest pros perity to the Farmer. It should be a visitor to every home in Nebraska. State Journal : A good man3 of our State exchanges are grumbling about Kansas receiving so man3 more settlers this yoar than Nebraska. We advise them not to be troubled. Noise must not be taken for numbers. The actual fact is, that the average num ber of immigrants per da3 that cross the Missouri to Nebraska is nearty if not quite as great as that reported b3' our Kansas friends, though notnearl3" as man3T boasting dispatches are sent to the eastern papers. And it is a fact that the B. & M. R. R. Co. is selling more land every month than an3' Kansas compaii3 without sa3'ing much about the matter to anytod3'. Attorney General G. H. Roberts was to have lectured in this city on Tuesday evening of this week, but on account of poor health could not be with us. On Tuesda3' morning we received .a dispatch from Gen. Roberts saying he was sick and requesting postponement for one week. We at once gave notice to the public by printed handbills, that the lecture wa6 postponed.
