Es-Gov. Furfcas has just finished plautiug sixty acres of orchard this spring. This makes just 1G0 acres of an orchard for him. This orchard, and his vat nurseries, "are two miles wet of Brownvillo. We were out to see the Governor last week, and got a few choice trees. Wo found him where he has been constantly for the past month in tho midst of his trees and ehTubbery, hard at work, with his own hands, and superintending the work of his laborers, planting, transplanting, filling orders for cus tomer, etc. Tho Governor, finding his nursery mattors in not excellent shape this spring.andremcmbering the little story of the farmer and the lark, and tho admirable lesson taught by It, took hold of his rural labors himself, "threw himself into the breach ;" and although the cold winds and disagree able weather of this spring have made his face ns brown as n Mexican, he has the satisfaction of knowing that his work is well done, and demon strates that he can labor as well as theorize. The Governor, tho morning we saw him, was not feeling well. He at tempted the day before to pull a tree out of the ground uby the roots," when, instead of proving himself a Sampson, he wrenched his back until he could scarcely Walk. And then he was out of humor with the grasshop pers, for, ns he says, they climb his fruit trees, and hunting out the swell ing fruit buds, devour them.- The hopper last fall took a strong fancy to his nursery grounds, and literally stuffed them full of grasshopper seed, and none of tiiat kind of seed fails to came up and live, and movp, and have a being. Just think how smart the. little pests are not bigger tharra pin head, some of them climbing Into a fruit tree, ten feet, to investigate the fruit prospects. But that's tho way they do that is a case where the pure cussedness of their naturo comes in. The Governor is not, ns a general thing, a swearing man, bat he made remarks that Indicated that had he the executive ability he would send those grasshoppers to that hot country that the preachers tell about, and then recommend a repeal ot the pardoning jiowerU r - i sroijjour llnches hreMiitlrlBftVw The city council bad a meeting on Monday evening.
