County, N. Y., July 18th, 1844, and
died at her residence in Pefd. Mon
day morning, January 12th 1874. She
died in the full triumphs of Chris
tian faith. She leaves a husband and
five children to mourn, but not as
those without hope. Her funeral
sermon was preached to a large and
sympathizing audience in the M. E:
Church by the writer from John 14:
1-2, "Blessed are they that mourn for
they ahall be comforted."

cinct, Susie Itfj.y, daughter of Win.
and Percy Steward, aged three years
and ten months.
The deceased was a remarkably
bright and intelligent child, for one
of her age. and her parents will long
miss the ray of sunshine which her
presence ca-t around the home rlrcle.
Again and again lias the messenger
Uf death visited this afflicted family
and ttlkan their love ! ones from their
embrace. But death is an irripartinl
messenger, he calls the young and old
alike. Yet there is consolation in
the thought that those that die in
childhood go into the presence of
their Maker, unstained by the spots
which a contact with the cares of life
is sure to impre.-s on us all. B.

Last Thursday night some one bur
glarized our Post-office and helped
him-elf to two bum-lies of letters,
tied up ready for the mail, and two
regiMered letters, amount of motley
enclosed unknown. The entrance
was effected by breaking a light of
glass In n hide window, through
which aperture the support or bolt
was removed, and lifting up the win
dow the hief dropped in. helped him
self and then made good his escape.

entering the office, discovered the
depredation and at once set about
finding the. depredator.
On last Monday night about nine

habeas corpus was sworn out and tKe
prisoner brought before Judge Mc

and the Judge requiring evidence that
Pollock was a U. S. officer. The

and was informed by the court that
he could take the prisoner, when Pol
