Since the return of Mr. Frank E.
Johnson from two weeks absence in
the east this establishment has been
kept busy opening, unpacking and
spreading out the new arrivals of
goods. They have never had so large
a stock, aad it is useless to say that
nobody else has. Their new arrivals
embrace every variety of dry goods,
dress goods, notions, fancy goods,
hats, caps, boots, shoes, etc., of the
best qualities. We need not say that
their assortment of goods in this. line
is unequalled in the city. Their
shelves, cases and counters are filled
full and heaped up, and still unopen
ed cases cover the vacant spaces on
the floor.

One of the attractions at tho late
Fair was tho handiwork of W. H.
Hoover, Esq., presented in the shape
of Abstracts of Laud Titles in Nema
ha county, which, for neatness of ex
ecution, aocuracy of design and per
fection in style could scarcely be e
qualled. There is not a quarter sec
tion, lot or. part of lot in Nemaha
county, which Hoover's abstract does
not show, together with tho title run
ning from the date of transfer from
Uncle Sam down to date of enquiry,
as also particulars as to encumberauc
es and nature thereof: all accurate
and presented in such form as to grat
ify the most scrutinous enquirer at a
glance. This work has caused some
two or threo years of research and
toil, and its completion will be hailed
with pleasure by every one who is
possessed of land in the county, or
who calculates to trade in Nemaha
county town or city property.
In connection with the Abstracts
above spoken of, was a placard en
closed in a neat frame, the lettering of
which was tho woik of Charlie Whit
man. The lines represented raised,
gothic and shaded letters, perfect as
though impressed from steel, and
secmingas though pen or pencil had
never touched the paper upon which
they appeared. If nny one can beat
our Charlie with the pencil wo would
like to see how he does it.
J. Gilbert our present efficient
County Surveyor, desires us to say
that he gives his hearty adhesion to
the Republican tioket lately present
ed to the electors af Nemaha county,
and is desirous that all his political
friends should support Jr. Hayden
and the entire .Republican ticket on
Tuesday next.

Hon. F. A. Sue, ono of the
County Commissioners of Johnson
county, was in town on Monday last.
It being tho first time he had visited
this locality, although he is an old res
ident of the State. He expressed
himself much surprised at the appar
ent success of the town, but thinks
Tecumseh is the town of all towns af
ter all, and is very confident that they
will have the cars running into Te
cumseh beforo the first f December
nest.
It has been well known before
that Charley Gaode, Proprietor of the
City Hotel and Livery Stable at Pe
rn, kept the best livery in the Slate,
but no one supposed he hail the finest
carriage team in the Stato, until the
committee so decided at tho State
Fair.
