On last Friday evening, Miss Carrie D.
Fuller of the Peru State Normal School, en
tertained the citiezns of Brownville at Mc
Pheison's Hall, under the auspices of the
Literary Society, for an hour, by reading se
lections of verse, poetry and prose from
various authors. She excels in the comic
satirical, pathetic and didactic; rather than
in the grand impassioned, and declamatory.
Her readings on the wholu, were really ex
cellentfar beyond the average of those who
appear before western audiences.
Slngnlarly enough with the decision or
the Ecumenical Coucil, at Rome, that the
Pope was Infalliablc, it was accorded by th
American public that Dooley's Yeast Powder
was likewise Infallahle.
We do not wish to dispute with Plus IX as
to his Infallibility, but we challenge any
baking powder to" be produced that is as
clearly infallible as ours In strength, purity,
freedom from deleterious substances, and
that will stand such a chemical analysis. It
is the healthiest, cheapest, and best ever yet
known. Try It and be convinced.
. E. S. IVlbley is demonstrating good

Harry Crist, this week, conducted us
through the extensive lumber yard, in this
city, owned by Kilbourn, Jenkins A Co.
First he has a stack of one thousand doors ol
all patei us, and sizes, under cover lu the
main building. In another large building
we found window sash piled up and packed
in until it seemed that for quantity, there
was no end. In another. building, 3x100
feet, we found fiui&liiiiglumberdfnll lengths!
thicknesses nnd vidths piled tvyeutv feel
high, and all dry and well protected from the
weather. Out side Is any quantity of fenc:
mg.jolcc, scantling, square lumber, coarse.
lumber, pickets, shingles, piled up and pack-

We were told by a Chicago lumber dealer
that forqua'lffy, q'uuntity and variety it was

SEW YORK MARKET.
The mnrltt-t advices from New York and Liver
pool arc to the effect that the price of wheat Is ad
vancing, and this excitement has rabed corn six
ceuts, There b not so much wheat In store In Chi
cago now as one year ago. by nearly -.Oo.foo bush
els; butmoreeorn now than then, by nearly one
million bushels. In New York City ihere is now
!,5U0,lKX) bushels of wheat on hand, against 3,122,158,
one year ago. There is now in store there 257.000
busheU of corn, against 533,717 bushels one year
ajfo. The number of bushels of wheat Is about the
same in both places, but Chicago has three times
the most corn. The corn In Chicago has been ear
ned over from last year's crop, which accounts for
the large quantity on hand. New York has more
oats now than then, and Chicago has less.
