The amount of building going on In the
city is really astonishing. We strolled out
Into a portion of the city the other day in
which we had not been for some weeks, and
counted fifteen dwellings up and nuder way,
since our former visit.
The last Installment of the subscription
for the erection of the Catholic church being
now due, as the building is enclosed, Tim.
McLaughlin will visit the subscribers during
this week, and collect the same. It would be
pleasant if all were prepared to pay prompt
ly, Wm. M. Chaffee and Wni.D. Lewis have,
we understand, associated themselves In
business relations, and will open up the
Distillery near tills city, soon. These gen
tlemen are arc both tip-top business men,
and we predict for them a successful busi
ness carreer.
It Is reported In the city that Judge Sanders-,

serious as represented.

Why yeast powder should be used.
Because it Is much more convlenicnt tlsan
brewer's or hop yeast, produces better and
more nutritious food, and never fails of suc
cess. This is particularly applicable to Doo

contain the full weight as represented, but
the contents arc perfectly free from any In
jurious substances. Nothing enters into Its
composition but articles that are healthy and
nourishing, and the bread prepared with It

Brownville Brewery. Conrad Shrlner,
of the Brownville Brewery, is making ex
tensive and substantial improvements and
additions to his present brewing establish
ment, at the head of Main street. At pres
ent he is building an additional cellar, in
creasing his caimclty in that respect twice
what it has been heretofore. Conrad will
keep up with the times, ana is determined
to furnish this city with all the lager and
ale It can dispose of, which ls no small quan
tity. By-the-way, the Brownville Brewery
lias the reputation of making the beat malt
drinks in the country.
Speaking or a herd-law, we know of no
place in the world where one ls more deeded:
than In this city. At this season of the year
and during winter, abont twenty-five head
of cows nrakc their living off farmers' wag
ons coming into town. Weknowoneortwo
that will- "climb" a wagon quicker than a
zoat, or a boy hookin' watermelons. Let a
grain wagon be left alone flvemlnutes in the
street, and the whole. load Is destroyed. It Is
an outrage, and ought not to be permitted.
A man who Is not able to feed his cow In
winter, or whopcrmltrthertoforageon coun
try wagons, ought to bocompelied to sellout.
