We learn that quite a number of the ladles of this city have determined upon holding a festival for the benefit of the Metropolitan Silver Cornet Band of this city during tbe coming holidays. The move Is certainly commendable, for this Band has played gra tuitously for everybody else's benefit for the past two years blowing for all charitable ob jects alike, free and the time has about ar rived when they should also have a benefit. To Bay nothing of the time and money spent In learning, they have each from $10 to $100 invested In their instruments, which, as it stands, is an investment of private capital for public benefit. Again, we say, their time for a"good benefit has arrived, and, from those already awake to the enterprise, and the style of Its members, we can predict that It will be a pleasant affair, and conducted In a manner to please and satisfy the most fastl- deous.
